where to start..

Where does one start when they haven't "officially" blogged in a few months.
Where does one begin to tell you all the things they have been through..without this being a mile long story? bullet points..that's how.

working left to right

  • shooting, shooting, shooting (and i am ever so thankful for my clients)
  • weddings
  • sushi dates
  • play dates with this princess
  • dry lake bed fun
  • bogey's partially torn ligament ordeal
  • decorating for christmas
  • watching these two sleep...all the time
  • doughnuts. enough said
  • scouting for spots
  • birthday parties
  • snow adventures
  • photo shoots
  • big buns
  • day dates with this stud
  • and finally spending time with this snuggle monster

I am hoping that this is a slow back into the blogging community, I have missed it so much.

follow me on instagram to keep up with what i dont blog =] @ashbashlove

always a bridesmaid..one day a bride?

sponsored post by Minted, but all opinions are my own!

Recently one of my really good friends got engaged, at the HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH (um disneyland + diamonds + love=best idea ever).  She was texting me and one of our best friends throughout the whole trip just waiting for him to propose, and the conversations went like this:

her: "we are at the baseball game, I think it might happen"
us: "eekkk, I hope so!"
her: "ya...it didn't happen."
us: "aww. I'm sorry"
next day
her "we are going to the beach, I think it might happen"
us: "eekkk, I bet! the beach is sooo pretty!"
her: "it didn't happen, maybe it's not happening this trip."
us: "I think it will!" (we were very hopeful, and no we had no idea)
later that day
her: "he is acting weird maybe it'll happen now!?" (they were at a bar drinking margaritas)
us: "at a bar? drinking margaritas? with his aunt? ya, maybe?" (we were sure it was not happening then)
next day
her: "we are off to disneyland, I know he wont do it there...he knows I don't want it there...maybe he is doing it on Christmas?"
us: "ya." (in which we started having our own private conversation about how we were going to make her feel better because she has been waiting FOREVER for a ring)

and then she sent us a picture of the most gorgeous engagement ring ever, and said "well I guess I was wrong, and it was the most perfect proposal...yes it was perfect, even at disneyland."

long story short...I am going to be a bridesmaid and I am super excited! She is getting married October 2014, and her theme will be very rustic/vintage. Her wedding will be very DIY, and in her families backyard--mason jars, kegs, & BBQ..perfect.  When searching for cute, original ways to decorate I was drawn to the blog JULEP, by the amazing company minted.  They have a section called "diy wedding" um..hello exactly what we are looking for!

Some of the amazing things I have fallen in love with are:

these candles would be perfect in her centerpieces:

this just SCREAMS krystina (the bride) and I could totally see her having these:

this garland (in her colors) would be perfect on her s'mores table!

they plan to have different types of dishes, all vintage-y looking; napkins like this would be perfect:

these would be perfect for escort cards, except with billy ball flowers:

Seriously obsessed with this website, and when matt decides to put a ring on it..I know I will be using Julep to find some inspiration..and minted for my invitations!

where did you find inspiration?

have you ever been a bridesmaid?

what is your best advice?

(side note: she didn't want to get engaged at disneyland because she feels too many people get engaged there, but after she had that ring...she basically didn't care and was just sooo excited to be engaged)

Summertime!

Something I love during the summer is refreshing lemon water, ice-cold water! (lezzzbehonest most of the time I want a nice cold beer, but at 11 am...that might be frowned upon.) So lately I have figured out ways to "spruce" up the water, add some extra flavor to it! Fruit + Water = happy dance in my mouth.

I had some blueberries sitting in my freezer that NEEDED to be used, I figured throw those babies into the water..not only do they keep it chilly, they add another pop of color and flavor!

see that chalkboard made another appearance here

After I drank up all this goodness, you bet your pretty little faces that I ate those berries right up! That is a two-for-oner right there!

What is your favorite flavors to add to water?

Couples Coffee Mug

The beautiful Stephanie, posted a while ago about the coffee mugs she made for her and Katie! I saw them and fell in love instantly! I knew I one day wanted to make those, and that day was yesterday! I found out when we moved that I had a lot of stuff packed away that I didnt realize I had, and in that pile of goodies were 8 white coffee mugs! Bingo! So yesterday I thought "I wonder if I have everything" I looked up the post, and realized all I needed was a sharpie, a mug and an oven. After searching I found out I had a thin sharpie and decided to give it a go!
Seriously this was the EASIEST thing to do, even a caveman could!

 Start with some clean mugs
Write what you want.. I chose Turbo (my nickname) and Bear (his nickname)
I also wrote "our number" on the back of them
Put them in the oven at 350 for 45 minutes

As my students used to say "Easy Peasy Lemon Squeeze-y"

Have a great Wednesday loves!

Chalkboard End Tables (tutorial)

As I mentioned yesterday I am obsessed with chalkboard paint at the moment (who isn't) and if I could I would paint an entire wall chalkboard, but I am pretty sure that would be pretty hard to cover when we go to move out.
I didn't decide until last minute to make this a "tutorial," so bare with  me on the fact that the pictures aren't exactly staged properly, nor did I remove clutter from background/take tape off from painting walls/etc. #reallife

I used Rust-oleum paint, I read some reviews and it seems to work great!
Plus for the can size you get, its not tooo badly priced.

I forgot to tape off the edges, but it is really important because the stuff drips, and I like clean lines!

Do thin coats, or else it is like nail polish and if the first coat doesn't dry...then the whole thing is ruined.  I used a roller for the first 2 coats, and then the final coat I used a paintbrush. My suggestion is use a roller the whole time.

After a day, rub a piece of chalk all over the top, and rub it in, then erase it off.
Do this a couple times, it helps the erasability of the chalk!

I seriously cannot stop writing things on them, taking pictures on it, etc.

It is safe to say; I am in love!!
